Keystone Gateway to Active Living

Activate Omaha is working with several partners again this year in an exciting project to  help kids Get up, Get out, and Get active!!

Children who otherwise would not have access to a bicycle will be given the opportunity to get on one and explore the Keystone Trail.  The goal of the program is to educate the children about cycling and using the bicycle as a means of recreation and transportation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy body weight and staying active.

Students will spend time picking up their bikes at Peak Performance.  An Activate Omaha staffer will teach them basic bike maintenance, bike and trail safety, and help fit them for a helmet and bicycle.  Via a map provided, the participants will then ride their bikes on the Keystone Trail to an agreed upon destination.

Stay tuned to Activate Omaha to learn more and to watch the progress of a whole new generation of cyclists and bicycling advocates in 2011.

MANY THANKS to our partners involved in this program:
