A call to "Join the Movement!"

They are the faces of Omaha in Action. And Activate Omaha believes that the 21 full scale works of photography will help inspire the community to Join the Movement - to engage in an active life.

Activate Omaha and its partners held a VIP celebration and first viewing of Omaha in Action on June 26 at Union Pacific Railroad. The event allowed Omaha business and community leaders to view the entire collection. The works have been put on public display in various locations throughout Omaha.

Activate Omaha research shows we are becoming a more active community, and it’s time we see ourselves that way.  Over the last three years, AO has documented 3-5 percent gains in use of city trails and parks, and in pedestrian traffic.

These photos show active Omahans of all ages, backgrounds and levels of fitness. We want people to see themselves in these photos, to see how incredibly easy it is to put motion into their daily life.

The photographs were shot by a diverse group of local professional and amateur photographers, as well as photography students from Metro Community College, and donated to the Omaha in Action project.

Activate Omaha partnered with the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office and the Omaha Public Library to provide public venues for the project. Currently, residents renewing their driver’s license and library patrons will be able to enjoy Omaha in Action, a photography installation that reveals Omaha residents in candid, active moments.
